Here is an all new Little Owl – looking rather snowy with all that white showing through.

Next up is the very tiny Wren – Small birds are obviously very in at the moment.

The last image in this short preview is the ever faithful Hare but in this instance it’s a simple close-up of that ever watchful eye.

Working my way through all our British native owls at the moment. They are exceptionally captivating, especially the eyes which seem to stare right through you. There’s a local owl a few minutes walk from our house. I haven’t as yet managed a good view but both myself and my dear wife have heard it and caught glimpses of moment high above the church tower (Yes, I know classic scenario). Will keep trying for a positive identification.

Here is a Short Eared Owl. We were lucky enough to observe a Short Eared Owl on Skomer Island last summer. They’re great because you can see them in the daylight.

Loving the golden eyes on this bird – The warm glow provides a really nice point of focus against the plumage and the owl’s gaze takes you with it.

Next we have the very popular Barn Owl. Classic pose on a fence post, watching the field out of sight for potential signs of prey. It really is a stunning bird with a beautiful plumage. I was lucky enough to hold a very young Barn Owl many years ago at a local Owl Sanctuary, the memory of the tiny ball of feathers with large intense eyes still remains very clear in my memory.

More owls to follow in forthcoming post, including – The Little Owl and Tawny Owl (Too-wit Too-woo).
